WHEN WORDS AREN’T ENOUGH

Body-based and creative counseling rooted in expression, connection, and care beyond pathology.

Who We Are

At So(u)l, we offer creative, somatic, and relational therapy for people seeking something beyond insight alone. Our work is grounded in nervous system awareness, movement, creativity, and the belief that the body often carries what words were never given space to hold. Through art, dance, reflection, and relationship, we support people in slowing down enough to notice themselves with more curiosity, care, and trust.

We come from Wallmapu (Chile), Cuba, and Nicaragua, and our work is shaped by the understanding that people do not exist separate from history, culture, land, community, or the conditions they’ve had to survive. The name So(u)l reflects both soul and sol, the sun. Not soul in the sense of moral purity, religious worthiness, or something that must be earned, saved, or separated from the body, but soul as aliveness, memory, creativity, relationship, presence, and the deeply human parts of ourselves that exist across cultures and long predate colonial ideas of personhood. Across Indigenous and diasporic ways of understanding life, there have always been languages for the unseen, felt, relational parts of being human that move through story, rhythm, land, grief, joy, ancestry, and connection.

We do not believe people need to be fixed into acceptability. Instead, we approach therapy as a collaborative space for expression, meaning-making, embodiment, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that learned to adapt, protect, create, and keep going.

Art Therapy
$110.00

Art therapy offers space to explore emotions, identity, relationships, and lived experience through creativity and expression. You do not need to consider yourself “artistic” to participate. We use art-making as a gentle way to slow down, reflect, process, and connect with parts of yourself that may feel difficult to reach through words alone. Sometimes images, color, texture, and play can help us understand something before language fully arrives.

Somatic Therapy
$110.00

Somatic, and dance/movement therapy invites us to notice how emotions, stress, memories, and patterns of survival live and move through the body. Together, we explore movement, rhythm, sensation, breath, posture, and nervous system awareness in ways that support connection, expression, grounding, and curiosity. No dance experience is needed, and there is no “right” way to move here. The focus is not performance, but learning to listen to and build relationship with your body in ways that feel supportive and sustainable.

Group Therapy
$0.00

Group therapy offers a chance to explore healing, connection, creativity, and community alongside others who may also be navigating overwhelm, identity, stress, trauma, grief, neurodivergence, or the complicated experience of being human. Our future groups will incorporate somatic, art, and dance/movement based approaches that invite people to notice how emotions, stress, memories, protection, and patterns of survival live and move through the body and relationships.

Together, we may explore movement, creativity, rhythm, sensation, nervous system awareness, reflection, storytelling, music, art making, and collaborative expression in ways that support curiosity, grounding, emotional expression, connection, and collective care. No dance or art experience is needed, and there is no “right” way to participate here. The focus is not performance or perfection, but building safer, more sustainable relationships with ourselves, our bodies, and each other over time.

Clinical Consultation
$249.00

Consultation spaces offer an opportunity for clinicians, organizations, educators, and community spaces to think more deeply and collaboratively about trauma, neurodivergence, embodiment, creativity, relational care, and the ways larger systems shape how people move through the world. Our consultations are grounded in clinical training, lived experience, community relationships, and ongoing engagement with abolitionist, decolonial, disability justice, and culturally responsive frameworks of care.

Together, we may explore topics related to complex trauma, survival responses, relational safety, consent, adoption, institutional harm, emotional expression, somatic awareness, art and movement based approaches, and the role creativity, culture, and community can play within healing work. We are especially passionate about supporting clinicians and organizations interested in integrating more embodied, relational, and humanizing approaches into their existing work.

The focus is not on having all the “right” answers or performing expertise perfectly, but on building thoughtful, ethical, sustainable practices rooted in curiosity, reflection, accountability, and care.
